Root Canal Therapy

What Is It: Removal of diseased or injured pulp tissue from the tooth’s center due to decay, trauma, cracks or multiple restorative treatments on the same tooth.

Procedure Description: Local anesthetic is used to anesthetize the affected area. Once anesthetized, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed. The tooth will be cleaned and disinfected and hermetically sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha in addition to a sealer. This serves as a way to help prevent future infection.

Why You Would Need It: This treatment is used if you are experiencing pain due to damage to the pulp of the tooth. This could be a result of a myriad of things as mentioned above.
